What is Glaucoma?
Glaucoma is a hard-to-notice eye disease caused by abnormally high intraocular pressure (IOP), which can press on and harm the optic nerve — which sends what you see to your brain. Commonly known as the “silent thief of sight,” glaucoma often shows no obvious symptoms until it has impacted your sight — but does have signs we can detect! In its later stages, this condition can lead to blurry vision, tunnel vision, blind spots, halos around lights, eye pain or pressure, and headaches.
Glaucoma Risk Factors:
You may be at higher risk of developing glaucoma if you:
- Are over the age of 60
- Are Black, Asian, or Hispanic
- Have family history of glaucoma
- Have certain medical conditions (e.g., diabetes, high blood pressure)
- Have extreme nearsightedness or farsightedness
- Have a previous eye injury or surgery

From the time I walked in the door (greeted by Maddie who offered basically a little of everything to drink) to Corrie with the the cool technology machines, to Dr. Jared, everything felt seamless. He was very professional, courteous and efficient. Thomas helped me pick a pair of glasses that I couldn't be more proud to wear.
